Kawerau Geothermal Power Station

LP Brine Line Replacement Project

Page Macrae Engineering have been heavily involved with a project for Mighty River Power at their Kawerau Geothermal Plant. The project involved additions and modifications to the HP and LP Brine Line, including sections of the line being replaced.  Page Macrae Engineering’s responsibilities were the engineering, project management and shut planning, health and safety, quality and environmental systems and process outcomes, mechanical works, control of electrical works, civil, structural and architectural works.  The HP Brine Line piping to the LP Separators were manufactured from Carbon Steel and Super Duplex SS.  The project also included the installation of isolation valves on the LP steam and brine lines and the installation of a Rupture Disk Station and access platform.

This project was completed last week on schedule due to the high level of planning and organization, allowing Mighty River Power to get back online on time.  The joint team effort of Page Macrae and Mighty River Power staff was a huge factor in the successful outcome of this project.

Page Macrae Engineering are very proud of their involvement with this and are pleased to have been able to produce such a pleasing outcome for our customer, exceeding their expectations.

Blue Pacific Minerals

Kiln Upgrade Project

Page Macrae Engineering are proud to have been involved with Blue Pacific Minerals recent kiln upgrade project. The project involved us manufacturing a new larger kiln to replace the existing kiln in their Tokoroa plant.

Portions of the roof were removed to allow us to install this new larger kiln in place which required precise planning as there was limited work area and no room for error.

Stand 233

Page Macrae will be showcasing our Skate Table®, Dust Controlled Hoppers and DCL Dust Controlled Loading Spouts.  Visit us at stand 233 to see these in action!

Page Macrae Engineering’s Skate Table® is an ideal solution for improving productivity and reducing handling issues. High cycle times can put pressure on delivering goods to the customer and often leads to over handling and people taking short cuts, which can cause damage.

Bulk cargo operators require equipment, solutions and expertise to help reduce dust emissions at discharge, whilst maintaining maximum unloading productivity. Page Macrae provides that technology and expertise. Page Macrae’s Hoppers have been designed and built in conjunction with clients to combine these existing and new technologies, arriving at a solution that will satisfy environmental, client and port stakeholders. Complimenting this hopper technology are the DCL Loading Spouts which are designed to effectively handle all types of products – fine, granular, lumpy, abrasive and corrosive – and difficult dusty or sanitary applications.

Visit our stand to see both the DCL Dust Controlled Loading Spout and the Page Macrae Skate Table® Model in action.

Australian Bulk Handling Awards 2010

31/03/2011

Page Macrae Engineering has taken out a top award for our bulk grabs at a major competition held in Australia this month, sponsored by Australia's bulk cargo magazine Australian Bulk Handling Review.

Our cargo handling division's, PM Grabs, was voted the winner in the tightly contested Innovative Technology category at the annual Australian Bulk Handling Awards, held in Brisbane on the 11th November.

PM Grabs’ latest diesel-hydraulic grabs were entered in the category that included entries across a wide range of Australian specialist bulk cargo handling equipment suppliers. Operated via remote control by the ships crane operator, the grabs are designed for discharging large volumes of bulk material from ship’s holds, capable of carrying up to 20t of material at a time.

Customers including ports and stevedores are all under increasing pressure to reduce their operations’ environmental footprint without compromising their productivity. The design of the grabs that appealed to the judges was the manner in which we managed to reduce the noise and dust emissions, whilst incorporating some innovative features that make these grabs class leaders for discharge productivity.

The judges were impressed by the innovative features on PM Grabs’ range of diesel-hydraulic grabs and the great potential for the range in Australia and internationally. The novel features on the grabs should minimise downtime while reducing product run out and spillage.

The Innovative Technology section is one of the most highly contested awards and this year was no exception. We faced some very tough Aussie competition, so winning this award on their home turf was even more exceptional!
